PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a navigator for vehicle capable of allowing a driver to avoid a road in congestion or a road with a heavy traffic volume, and to accurately select a route able to reach a destination in a short time, and a road traffic information system using this navigator for vehicle. SOLUTION: The navigator 10 for vehicle is provided with its own vehicle position detecting device 14 for detecting the present position of its own vehicle, and allowing a display 11 to symbol-display it on a road map and an information reception processor 15 for receiving information transmitted from a base station 2, and allowing the display 11 to display a time required for passage in each road block on the road map by discriminating it in each traveling direction. Also, each vehicle which is provided with the navigator 10 for vehicle calculates a time required for passage in the road block through which the vehicle passes each time the vehicle passes the node of each road block, and transmits it with the identification number of the road block from an information transmitting device 24 to the base station 2. The base station 2 collects the information transmitted from each vehicle, calculates the time required for passage in each road block, and transmits it to the vehicle which issues the request. |
