PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To effectively restrain short wavelength light such as ultraviolet rays component of emitted light for display from being radiated from a screen of a display part by providing the display device with the display part on which a translucent conductive thin film having a specified transmittance characteristic in a selected short wavelength region is formed as necessary. SOLUTION: A display part 1 of the picture display device is constructed with a translucent conductive thin film 3 having a specified transmittance characteristic in a selected short wavelength region formed on a glass substrate 2 as necessary. Moreover, the translucent conductive thin film 3 is grounded 4 via a ground terminal 5. The translucent conductive thin film 3 is formed out of ITO, SnO2, PbO, Al, Au, Pt, TiO2, etc. The translucent conductive thin film 3 has a 30 to 40% transmittance characteristic also on the short wavelength side, especially in an ultraviolet region of about 350 nm wavelengths or below, and can effectively restrain ultraviolet rays, which are regarded as harmful to human body among the emitted light components for display, from being radiated from the glass substrate 2.
