PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a triazole-based compound useful as a photographic coupler, especially a magenta color coupler or an intermediate in organic syntheses by using an organic solvent having a boiling point within a specific range. SOLUTION: This method for producing a 1,2,4-triazole[3,4-b]-1,3,4-thiadizine- based compound of formula I (R1 is a tertiary alkyl or a tertiary cycloalkyl; R2 is an alkyl, a cycloalkyl or an aryl) is obtained using an organic solvent having a boiling point of 85-130 deg.C (excluding acetic acid, preferably an aromatic hydrocarbon-based or ester-based organic solvent). A compound of formula IV is obtained by reacting a compound of formula II (R3 is a tertiary alkyl or a tertiary cycloalkyl; X is Cl or Br) with an acid chloride of formula III (R4 is the same as R3) in the above organic solvent. A 1H-pyrazolo[3,2-c]-1,2,4- triazolo-based compound is obtained using an organic solvent having a boiling point of 70-120 deg.C (excluding acetic acid).
