PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable quick response to decelerating operation depending on a driver's intention of deceleration so as to improve drivability by previously judging the necessicity of deceleration according to road information on a scheduled running path to determine the contents of the deceleration step control and prepare for the execution of deceleration control. SOLUTION: This device includes a navigation processing part 11 including a data storing part 12 storing road information, and a current position detecting part 13 for detecting the driver's own position. Further, the device includes a vehicle state detecting part 30 having a car velocity sensor 31, a brake switch 32 and the like. A specified position located in the advancing direction of the vehicle is detected by the navigation processing part 11, and the distance from the driver's own position to the specified position and the proper speed for passing the specified position are calculated. According to the proper speed of the specified position, the detected car velocity and the distance from the driver's own position to the specified position, the necessity of deceleration is judged and when the necessity of deceleration is decided, the change gear ratio for deceleration is selected by a change gear ratio control device 42. |
