Column 11 has fluid supplied at 13 to allow lower density materials to flow over flume 12 but lower density material to sink to the bottom of column 11. Extractor 10 has fluid supplied at high pressure near the bottom of column 11 (at location C) so as to move stones etc. along path A to dewatering station 18. Typically fluid is recirculated through extractor 10 from 28 to a pump (not shown) and on to location C.
