PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately determine a rail jaw position. SOLUTION: In a rail section measuring device determining a rail jaw position from a rail image by a light cutting method, the rail jaw position is selected based on a fixed point in a rail image 41a and an end point of a continuous line on a side face of a rail body part. Specifically, a first straight line (42aa) toward the rail jaw on the side face of a rail head part is extracted, and an end point (42ab) of a continuous line toward the lower part of the rail jaw on the side face of rail body part is extracted, and then the position (42ac) of an intersection point that the first straight line or its extension line reaches to a second straight line connecting between the fixed point and the end point is determined. This is set as the rail jaw point. A point 44a on which a straight rail image converges at a distant place is used as the fixed point.
