PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device in which features of a hand-held computer(HC) are made to be maintained as they are and the screen of a 1/2 video graphics array(VGA) is made to be able to be changed over to the screen of a 1/1 video graphics array in accordance with the contents of a display picture. SOLUTION: This device is a liquid crystal display device which is provided with liquid crystal display surfaces 2, 3 which are to be used in the HC 1. The liquid crystal display surfaces 2, 3 have constitutions capable of being changed over to the liquid crystal display surface 2 displaying the picture of the screen of the 1/2 VGA and to the liquid crystal display surfaces 2, 3 displaying the picture of the screen of the 1/1 VGA consisting of the liquid crystal display surface 3 displaying the picture of the screen of other 1/2 VGA which is to be connected to the liquid crystal display surface 2 displaying the picture of the screen of the 1/2 VGA.
