PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tatami mat entirely made of a natural raw material without use of a chemical agent, which has a property equal to a conventional strow mat and which is excellent in healthy dry condition, deodorization, and durability. SOLUTION: This tatami mat is chiefly made of an insulation high board (soft fiber) and straw mats 1 woven with straws are used for the upper and side materials to make an evenly flat tatami mat which is the life. A desiccant and a deodorant (silica gel) are put in the upper and side materials. Straw mats woven with rice strows as a chief material are used for the longitudinal and lateral directions to form a double layer and a desiccant and a deodorant (silica gel) are put in the middle. Three layers of insulation high board cores are used as the main material and paper including, threads is used at the rear face, to obtain a uniflrm, durable and hygienic tatami mat which hardly generates a contaminant when it is disposed of.
