PURPOSE: A defroster for a refrigerator is provided to prevent the defrosting heat of a defrosting heater from being introduced into a freezing chamber to destroy the cooling balance when defrosting it from an evaporator. CONSTITUTION: A defrosting heater is started when defrosting it. Also, a solenoid valve(40) is worked to close a refrigerant channel of an evaporator and to open a refrigerant channel of a direct cooler(10). A system constituting a cooling cycle is continuously worked. The refrigerant gas of high temperature and pressure is vented from a compressor and introduced into the compressor again via a condenser(30), a capillary tube(50) and the direct cooler. The direct cooler generates another cold air while progressing the process. The raised defrosting heat is used to remove the frost formed on the surface of the evaporator and to fall its temperature by mixing itself with the cold air from the direct cooler. Therefore, the defrosting heat does not remarkably destroy the cooling balance in a refrigerator even if the heat is introduced.
