METHOD FOR TREATING A CATALYST HAVING AN ACTIVE SULPHUROUS PHASE AND CONTAMINATED BY A MERCURY COMPOUND

PURPOSE: A method for treating a catalyst having an active sulphurous phase and contaminated by a mercury compound is provided to remove mercury from a used catalyzer reviving active sulphurous phase. CONSTITUTION: The method treats a supported catalyst having a sulphurous compound active base and contaminated by a mercury compound. This method consists in heating the contaminated catalyst at a temperature between 300 and 1000°C in an inert atmosphere. As a result of this treatment, the catalyst has the same characteristics as it had before being contaminated by mercury.
