PURPOSE: A method for automatically tuning channels using a teletext is provided to easily remove inconvenience to manually tune channels, after tuning the channels according to an FS(Frequency Sychronizing) form or a VS(Voltage Synchronizing) form by a user. CONSTITUTION: A method for automatically tuning channels on a TV set having a teletext decoder, detecting a teletext signal mounted on a broadcasting signal, comprises the steps of: setting up page data with intrinsic teletext styles according to each cable broadcasting station; the each broadcasting station transmitting the page data by mixing with a teletext region, when delivering cable broadcasts; a TV set searching the page data for a whole band of a cable broadcasting signal through a teletext decoder, when an automatic tuning request of a cable broadcasting channel by a user is inputted, and automatically tuning channels of the cable broadcasting signal by storing searched broadcasting channels as tuning channels in order.
