PURPOSE: A method for modifying the surface of a metal product is provided to increase exfoliation resistance of a platinum film formed on the metal surface and abrasion resistance of the surface. CONSTITUTION: A platinum ion is injected on the surface, a platinum film is formed and the platinum ion is injected again for modifying the surface of a metal product. Then, the platinum ion first injected, the platinum ion of the platinum film, and the platinum ion finally injected are combined each other. Hence, adhesion of the platinum film is increased so exfoliation resistance of the platinum film is also increased. The platinum ion is injected before and after forming the platinum film under the condition of 1 to 5 doubled 10¬15ions/cm¬2 of injecting amount, 10 to 200kev of accelerating voltage, and 10 to 100mA of ion current. The film thickness of the platinum film is 0.1 to 0.5 micrometer.
