PURPOSE: A solid pigment preparation comprising one or more metal complexes of an azo compound as a pigment is provided which has improved dispersion and coloring strength. CONSTITUTION: A solid pigment preparation comprises one or more metal complexes of an azo compound as a pigment, wherein a form of tautomeric structures corresponds to the formula(1), it contains one or more compounds as a guest compound and a pH of slurry of the solid pigment preparation and water 20 times the quantity of the preparation is above 6.5. In formula, X, Y each independently are capable of containing one or two substituents selected from the groups consisting of =O, =S, =NR7, -NR6H7, -OR6, SR6, -COOR6, -CN, -CONR6R7, -SO2R8, -NR6CN, alkyl, cycloalkyl, aryl, and aralkyl, the sum of a double bond inside and outside the ring is 3 for each X and Y; R6 is H, alkyl, cycloalkyl, aryl, aralkyl, or acyl; R8 is alkyl, cycloalkyl, aryl or aralkyl; m, n, o, p each are 1 or may be 0 in a case a cyclic nitrogen atom is a point of departure as represented in a dotted line in the formula(1). The complex is useful in all application fields of pigments, for example, a pigmenting of various varnishes, a synthesis and a semisynthesis for the manufacture of printing coloring agents, distemper coloring agents or binder coloring agents, or a mass coloration of natural polymeric substances.
