PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the intake efficiency of engines by suppressing separating phenomenon which occurs downstream of a throttle shaft and throttle valve or reducing the separating area and thus increasing the pressure recovery efficiency of a surge tank. SOLUTION: Two platelike separators 4 are spaced along the axis of a throttle shaft 2 to partition the inside passage of a diffuser 1b or so that their upstream ends 4a lead intake fluid to the conical surface of the diffuser 1b. This arrangement restricts or reduces separating areas to improve the pressure recovery efficiency of a surge tank and thus the intake efficiency of an engine.
