PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mounting structure of cylinder head covers for overhead- valve internal combustion engines with a valve system in their cylinder head. SOLUTION: An internal-combustion engine 1 has a cylinder head cover 25 that is so mounted on a cylinder head 2 that its outer edge is brought into contact with the cylinder head 2. The cylinder head cover 25 has a recession 26 in its middle section taken along the width or just across the crankshaft. With its one end passed through the recession 26 and fixed to the cylinder head 2, a coupling member 28 is equipped with a loose-fitted coil spring 32. When compressed, the coil spring 32 is between the bottom of the recession 26 of the cylinder head cover 25 and a spring retainer 33 at the other end of the coupling member 28. The coil spring 32, coupling member 28 and spring retainer 33 are all accommodated in the recession 26 of the cylinder head cover 25.
