The spare wheel mounting for a motor vehicle has a lowerable support for the wheel with a lever (7) and an actuator (6). One end of the level is mounted in a housing (9) for pivoting and the other end carries a roller (11,12) through which a relay movement of the draw cable (10) around a segemtal path to cause the wheel carrier to be lowered.
