<p>The invention relates to a method for identifying a user of a network, such as the Internet, said network including several clients and several remote servers. At least one remote server is adapted to provide at least one client with a network accessible document, such as a hypertext document, in response to a request transmitted by the client to said remote server. The method includes the steps of defining at least one individual user profile consisting of information about the user, such as age, sex, interests, etc., and being provided by the user, storing said at least one predefined user profile in a memory means associated with the client, selecting one of said at least one predefined user profile in accordance with the user that is currently using the client for accessing the network, communicating the selected user profile to the remote server, and receiving the selected user profile at the remote server, before said document is provided to the client.</p> |
