PURPOSE: An active matrix LCD is provided to improve transitivity by forming each electrode of opposite side substrate and TFT side substrate with a transparent metal, and to control a liquid crystal by in-plane. CONSTITUTION: A TFT side substrate(7) has a counter face(7a) to an opposite side substrate(9). The opposite side substrate(9) having a counter face(9a) to the TFT side substrate(7), is arranged to opposite to the TFT side substrate(7). A liquid crystal having a negative anisotropic perceptivity, is put between the opposite side substrate(9) and the TFT side substrate(7). A transparent conductor electrode is formed on the counter face(9a) of the opposite side substrate(9). A plurality of pixel electrode part are formed on the counter face(7a). An interfacial insulating film in which a plurality of slit is each installed at fitting position with each pixel electrode part.
