OXIDATION CATALYST AND PROCESS FOR PRODUCING OXOLE COMPOUND WITH THE SAME

An oxidation catalyst characterized by comprising a composite oxide containing tungsten and oxygen and containing substantially no antimony. An example of the catalyst is represented by the following general formula (1): Wx(A)1-xOy (wherein A represents at least one element selected from the group consisting of alkali metals, Cr, Mo, Group 13 elements, and Group 15 elements other than Sb; x is a number satisfying 0<x<1; and y is a nonzero number determined by the oxidized states of the other elements). By the use of the catalyst, an oxole compound, e.g., furan, can be efficiently produced.
