PURPOSE: A detergent composition as an essential component compounded N-methyltaurine alkali metal salt of N-acylmethyltaurine is provided which has good foaming properties and is free from a slimy touch after washing. CONSTITUTION: A detergent composition is characterized in that it comprises as an essential component (1) N-acylmethyltaurine, N-acyltaurine, alkylsulfuric acid ester, alkylethersulfuric acid ester or N-methyltaurine alkali metal salt of alkyl sulfonic acid or N-methyltaurine organic alkali salt; (2) N-acylmethyltaurine, N-acyltaurine, alkylsulfuric acid ester, alkylether sulfuric acid ester or hypotaurine of alkali metal salt or hypotaurine organic alkali salt; and (3) N-acylmethyltaurine, N-acyltaurine, alkylsulfuric acid ester, alkylethersulfuric acid ester or taurine alkali metal salt of alkylsulfonic acid or taurine organic alkali salt. The composition gives refreshed finish with reduced slimy skin feeling.
