Novel nucleic acid transporters and medicinal compositions for gene therapy. The nucleic acid transporters are characterized by containing polypeptides consisting of an appropriate number of diaminobutyric acid residues and/or pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof. These nucleic acid transporters form complexes (i.e., the above-mentioned medicinal compositions for gene therapy) having a high safety and an extremely low immunogenicity with vario us therapeutic genes, thereby making it possible to efficiently and safely transfer these therapeutic genes into cells by various means and to express the genes at a high ratio in the cells.
