PURPOSE: A method for treating a defect is provided to operate the treatment of defect and the management of state effectively by reducing needless Inter Process Communication(IPC) message in a corresponding switching system and by reducing load to the corresponding upper processor. CONSTITUTION: An upper processor appoints(S21) a top matching device as a master matching device for reporting(S22) the recognizing number for the master matching device to external matching devices. If defect information is transferred and the information is for the master matching device, every external device transfers(S25) the defect information to the upper processor. Then, the upper processor treats(S26) the defect and appoints(S27) a certain slave matching device as a master matching device. If the defect information is not for the master matching device, the master matching device transfers(S28) the defect information to the upper processor. Therefore, IPC message for the defect information is reduced in case of the generation of defect in the external matching devices, and the load to the upper processor is reduced for treating the defect quickly.
