PURPOSE: A method for updating channel information on a multi-broadcasting satellite receiver is provided to receive channel information when the receiver is on stand-by state. CONSTITUTION: A method for updating channel information on a multi-broadcasting satellite receiver capable of selectively receiving a digital satellite broadcasting signal and a ground wave analog broadcasting signal, comprises the steps of: turning off output of an A/V(Audio/Visual) signal when a power off key is inputted, while watching a broadcasting signal received to the multi-broadcasting satellite receiver; deciding whether each relayer which is located in a satellite is locked, when the output of the A/V signal is turned off; receiving side data having various channel information, which a broadcasting entrepreneur supplies through the satellite; and updating the channel information by storing the information in a memory when the information of the side data is received. Deciding whether the each relayer is locked confirms the locked state of the relayer by tuning a transmission signal of a default transponder.
