PURPOSE: An apparatus for displaying discharge of plane plasma and driving method thereof are provided to generate a high luminance by forming a discharged electrode and a fluorescent body on two different substrates. CONSTITUTION: A first and second substrates(1,2) maintain a certain interval and are opposed. A plane display chamber forms a plane gas space between the first and second substrates(1,2). A first and second electrode groups(11,12) having a plurality of electrode X(X1,X2,X3,...) and a plurality of electrode Y(Y1,Y2,Y3,...) insert an insulating layer(14) into a crossing portion on the first substrate(1). A plurality of parallel electrodes X(X1,X2,X3,...) are arranged in the first electrode group(11) located on the first substrate(1). A plurality of electrode portions AY(AY1,AY2,AY3,...) and electrodes(Y1,Y2,Y3,...) are composed in the second electrode group(12). |
