The invention relates to a method for producing welded blanks (16). Said blanks are maintained in a substantially upright position by holding devices (17) and the welding process is carried out in this position using a laser welding device (11, 13). The inventive method and device provides a means fo r substantially saving space, both with regard to the treatment and handling o f the blanks vis-à-vis known horizontal arrangements.
