A transgenic plant cell expressing a maltogenic amylase (such as Novamyl~) o r a beta-amylase; a transgenic plant regenerated from said cell; seeds generat ed from such plant where said seeds comprise a maltogenic amylase or a beta- amylase and the use of said seeds, optionally in ground form, for catalyzing an industrial process, such as e.g. in baking.
