PURPOSE: A chip type variable resistor is provided to make a chip type variable resistor contacted on a print wire board by soldering have a stable electric and mechanical characteristic. CONSTITUTION: A chip type variable resistor is prepared with an insulation board(1), a resistant body(2), a pair of electrodes(3) contacted to both ends of the resistant bodies and a terminal(5) consisted of a metal plated contacted to the electrode. Herein, the terminal has a floor plate(5a) touching a lower face(1b) of the insulation board and a first and a second leg unit(5b,5c) extended toward an upper face(1a), folded from the floor plate along with two side faces(1c) vertically crossing, placed in an angled part of the insulation board. In addition, front ends(5g,5f) of the first and second leg units are folded so that the front end is soldered to an electrode.
