PURPOSE: An apparatus for relaying a packet is provided to establish a flow condition with a plurality of items including user identification information, protocol information and priority identification information and to perform flow detection, QoS(Quality of Service) control and filtering in high speed. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus for relaying a packet comprises: a routing processing unit specifying one of output lines outputting each packet by the information as to a routing table on the basis of header information of a receiving packet; a flow detection unit retrieving control information defined with an entry whose flow condition coincides with the header information of the receiving packet, by the information as to an entry table where a plurality of entries including each flow condition and control information are registered; and a packet transfer unit transferring the receiving packet to a line corresponding unit connected to the output line specified with the routing processing unit.
