<p>A manufacturing process of a type in which printed products are generated has a number of intermediate stages (E/P) where an operation is made followed by a transfer to a further stage or with a series of intermediate stages (E/P,SE) that have associated auxiliary items, e.g. empty reels or palettes. These are handled and moved within the production area by transportation units (TV) to and from central stations (UV) with coordinating control (UC). The management of the system is provided by processing units (VV) that coordinate the sequence of operations in effecting transfers of material and part processed items. The transportation units are in the form of mobile vehicles or handling cranes coupled to local controllers (TC).</p> |
