摘要 The inventive gas exhaust system, intended for an internal combustion engine, has an exhaust manifold (12) in which the flue gas directed from the combustion chamber via connectors (10) is supplied to a feed pipe (14). In order to install a catalyst (30) as close as possible to the exhaust manifold (12) and use the high temperatures of the flue gas to achieve more rapidly the temperature required for the catalyst to function (30), the flue gas rate must be homogenized in time and geometry. To that end, the invention provides a smoothing chamber between the exhaust manifold (12) and the catalyst (30). As the diameter (D) of the smoothing chamber is larger than that (d) of the feed pipe, the cross section area available for the exhaust gas stream has such sudden changes at the smoothing chamber (18) entry (17) that said stream enters in free-expanding jet (18) the smoothing chamber (16), resulting in the gas rate being homogenized in time and geometry. It may also be considered to install a filter (38) corresponding to the mixture features (40, 42) to get a better homogenization of the gas supplied to the catalyst as well as a protection against the deposits contained in flue gas and combustion residue.
