The protective box (1) has a circular lid (2) which may clip over a circular base to enclose a data disk (4). An aperture (6) provides for a drive to the disk and a second oblong aperture (8) allows for reading and writing. A shutter (10) hinged eccentrically (12) controls access to the read/write aperture (8) and is operated by spring loaded (26) lid rotation using a lid slot (24) to guide an upturned end on the the shutter (10).
