PURPOSE: A process for the radical polymerization of one or more monomers is provided which is capable of the manufacture of copolymers containing a block copolymer. CONSTITUTION: A process for the radical polymerization of one or more monomers is conducted in the presence of two or more stable free radicals having different characteristics. The process can prepare copolymers containing a block copolymer, for example, a copolymer containing one or more polystyrene blocks and one or more polybutadiene blocks or a copolymer containing one or more polystyrene blocks and one or more (meth)acrylate type blocks. The two or more stable free radicals having different characteristics have higher productivity than that of the sum of individual stable free radicals.
