PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a paper roll holding device capable of holding large strength without constituting a paper roll holding member by a plurality of free members, uniformizing a pressing force on a paper roll by the paper roll holding member by corresponding to large and small diameters of the paper rolls, and facilitating the mounting operation of the paper roll holding member on the paper roll. SOLUTION: This paper roll holding device has a flange 2 in contact with both end parts of a paper roll 1 and a support cylinder 3 inserted into the paper roll 1. A spring 8 giving a pressing force to a locking claw 7 arranged in a transparent hole 6 provided on a peripheral wall of the support cylinder 3 so as to come in and out, a lock member 9 supporting both ends of the spring 8, and a spring support member 10 are provided. The lock member 9 and the spring support member 10 can slide, an elastic arm 11 whose tip is attached to the locking claw 7 protrudes on outer periphery of the spring support member 10, and the spring support member 10 is pressed through the spring 8 by the lock member 9 to expand and open the elastic arm 11 and press the locking claw 7 against an inner face of the paper roll.
