PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To shorten crystallization time, to enhance the yield of a high purity product and to reduce cost by using seeds having a specified composition of two elements and different from the product in structure, etc. SOLUTION: Seeds used in the synthesis of the objective zeolite having an EUO type structure and containing at least one element X selected from the group consisting of Si and Ge, preferably Si and at least one element T selected from the group consisting of Al, Fe, Ga, B, Ti, V, Zr, Mo, As, Sb, Cr and Mn, preferably Al comprise a zeolite material containing elements X' and T' selected from the same groups in an X' to T' ratio of <200. An aqueous mixture of sources of the element X and T, a structuring agent such as an alkylated polymethylene α, ω-diammonium derivative and the seeds is crystallized by heating them to 85-250 deg.C. The resultant solid phase is separated, dried, fired and subjected to treatment such as ion exchange to obtain the objective zeolite crystals suitable for use as an adsorbent for pollution control, a molecular sieve for separation and various catalysts. |
