PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To select at any time either an extension form or a compression form depending on use by simple operation. SOLUTION: This cushioning material forms a predetermined storage space for an item 1 to be packed. On a forming material for cushioning which is touching and fitting the outer surface of the item 1 to be packed, a cut line L is formed in forming at a predetermined position. By the cut line L, the forming material is transformed and guided at any time either to an extension form for packing formed with storage space or to a non packing compressed form losing the storage space. By this, either the extension form or the compression form can be selected at any time by simple operation.
