PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce a space to be secured in front of an opening by placing a main part of an open/close mechanism for closing an opening of a container on a side of the opening. SOLUTION: A container 1 is equipped with an approximately planar opening 2, while a pneumatic cylinder 4 as a main part of an open/close mechanism is attached to a side face of the container 1, and the pneumatic cylinder 4 has a coupling member 6 attached to a tip of a rod 5. The coupling member 6 is fixed to a lid holding member 30 for raising/lowering the rod 5 by the pneumatic cylinder 4 and for moving the lid holding member 30 in parallel with a Y-axis direction along a linear guide 3. In addition, movement regulating mechanisms 7 are attached to both sides of a position where the linear guide 3 is attached viewed from a Z-axis direction on a lower face of the container 1, and after movement of a lid 20 in the Y-axis direction is regulated, a relative position in the Z-axis direction between the lid 20 and the lid holding member 30 is varied.
