PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the front and rear centroidal balance of a sulky rice transplanter. SOLUTION: This structure for installing a transmission case 5 for a sulky rice transplanter is obtained by arranging the transmission case 5 at a position under an engine 2, installing a fuel tank at a position above the engine 2, covering the engine 2 and the fuel tank with a hood, forming the front wall of the hood into a nearly quarter of a circular arclike shape in the form of a front downwardly descending slope and bulging to the front when viewed from the side and installing a steering shaft in a space formed at a position in the rear of the engine 2, at a position above the rear of the transmission case 5 and at a position in front of an operating lever arranged at a position just in the rear of the hood covering the engine 2.
