PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mixing apparatus which can form a liquid surface for mass transfer to or from a gas phase and can efficiently mix a high-viscosity product by arranging mixer elements consisting of two mixer plates and two bilayered, sickle-shaped bars on a pair of shafts and putting these elements freely rotatably into a casing. SOLUTION: This mixing apparatus is constructed by putting a pair of mixer elements freely rotatably into a casing equipped with a product inlet, a product outlet, and a steam connection part. The mixer elements are arranged on rotary shafts 2, 2' and consist of two mixer plates 15 and two bilayerd, sickle-shaped bars 3, 4; 3', 4'. These bars 4-4' are arranged so as to intersect each other and are mutually connected by connectors 5, 5' extending along the axis direction, and pins 6-7' are formed on the bars 3-4', End plates 8', 9' are attached to each mixer element, thus cleaning the front side of the casing.
