PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable an image to be displayed stably with a high image quality. SOLUTION: Dichroic particles 20 are supplied to a liquid 201 from the supply apparatus 204 of a dichroic particle fractionation device 200 and, at the same time, descend by gravity while the particles 20 receive the resistance of a liquid 201 when an electric field is applied to the particles 20 by electrodes 203A, 203B. Simultaneously, the particles 20 move horizontally in response to a net charge and are deflected to be recovered by recovery parts 205a-205g. Further, a sheetlike display medium using an electrophoretic phenomenon is formed by using only the dischroic particles 20 recovered by the specific recovery part 205, e.g. 205d among the recovery parts 205a-205g.
