AFFORESTATION OF DESERTED LAND

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To afforest a deserted land by arranging a number of specific plant community units on the deserted land to be afforested interposing a distance between the units and sowing seeds of local grasses and trees between each unit, thereby easily and quickly forming a forest similar to natural forest. SOLUTION: A number of plant community units 1 each having an area of 1-200 m2 and produced by densely planting plural tree saplings on an improved soil are arranged on a waste land to be afforested interposing a distance between the units 1. Seeds of local grasses and trees are sowed between each community units 1. The units 1 are preferably arranged at a density of 10-100 units/ha and each unit 1 preferably contains saplings of arbor 2 and saplings of shrub 3.
