PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent collected dust from being sucked to the suction side when an electric fan is stopped by forming an opening for intake of outside air in a suction passage between a dust-collecting device and the suction fan in a cyclone-separation system and closing the opening while the electric source is put on and opening it when the electric source is put off. SOLUTION: Dust sucked from a suction tool 5 for a floor together with air on running the vacuum cleaner enters a cylindrical dust-collection part 6 through a front end pipe 7 and spirally swirls at a high speed toward the lower side along the inner wall of the cylindrical dust-collection part 6. Then the dust D is separated from air and fed in the dust collection chamber 6a from the exit 12a of an inverted conical cylinder 12 and accumulated in a dust- receive pan 10. The air separated from the dust is sucked into the cleaner body through a rear end pipe 8 and a hose 2. In this time, a valve body 15 is sucked by the air suction force to close the opening 14 and prevent the outside air from invading. When stopping running, the valve body 15 is opened by the restoring force to open the opening 14 and prevent the dust from invading into the rear end pipe 8 side.
