PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fishing reel having a trigger-starting bail of a new construction. SOLUTION: This fishing reel is provided with a rotor 20 fixed on a frame 12 in such a state that it can rotate around a longitudinally extending shaft line 38, a bail 48 pivotally mounted on the frame 12 and a bail-actuating means for actuating the bail 48 to come back. The bail-actuating means comprises a bail-moving member 108 moving back and forth against the fame 12 and a motion-changing link apparatus for moving the bail member 48 from a rewinding position toward a line-casting position by taking an open position through the motion of the bail-moving member 108 from the ordinary position to a forward position against the frame 12. On the bail-moving member 108 and the frame 12, a rib 114 and a groove 118 for guiding the bail-moving member 108 between the ordinary position and the open position are placed.
