摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a power plant for vehicle capable of obtaining a sufficient start acceleration using an electric motor of minor output and starting the engine without impairing the start accelerating characteristic. SOLUTION: A power plant for a vehicle adopts a three-element, two degree- of-freedom type epicyclic gearing mechanism to a two-stage transmission mechanism 2 installed between the output shaft 1a of an engine 1 and the input shaft 3 of a transmission 2. The output shaft 1a of the engine 1 and the input shaft 3 of the transmission 2 are coupled with a carrier 19 while an electric motor 16 is coupled with a sun gear 17, and a brake 28 is provided on a ring gear 18, and a clutch 25 is provided to couple the carrier 19 with the ring gear 18. At starting the vehicle, the output torque of the motor 16 is amplified and transmitted to the input shaft 3 of the transmission 2 and the output shaft 1a of the engine 1 through the clutch 25 so that a sufficient start acceleration is secured at the time of starting using an electric motor of minor output excellent in the on-board mounting easiness and starting of the engine is performed without impairing the start accelerating characteristic.
