PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To set the stroke of an input means to an ultrashort stroke far shorter than the conventional one and to improve responsiveness. SOLUTION: When a brake pedal 2 is normally depressed, a controller closes solenoid switching valves early. Then the master cylinder 3 side and the wheel cylinder 9-12 side are cut off relatively early in relation to the solenoid switching valves 19, 20, and thereafter the wheel cylinder pressure of the wheel cylinders 9-12 is built up by discharge pressure from pumps 14a, 14b but not built up by master cylinder pressure. The wheel cylinder pressure is therefore built up at normal speed. When the brake pedal 2 is rapidly depressed, the controller closes the solenoid switching valves 19, 20 later than the case of normal braking. Since master cylinder pressure is led into the wheel cylinders 9-12 during relatively long time until the solenoid switching valves 19, 20 are closed, wheel cylinder pressure is rapidly built up without delay. The quick brake is therefore applied rapidly to improve responsiveness. |
