PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bobbin winding roll, a bobbin winding method for the bobbin winding roll and a sewing machine provided with the bobbin winding roll capable of accurately detecting the time immediately before the exhaustion of a thread wound to the bobbin winding roll without affecting the winding amount of the thread wound to the bobbin winding roll or without requiring special attention at the time of winding the thread around the bobbin winding roll. SOLUTION: After setting a bobbin 7 to a bobbin attaching shaft 11, by rotating the bobbin attaching shaft 11 in the direction of winding the bobbin thread 13, the bobbin thread 13 abutted to a rib 31 formed in a helical shape is guided to a prescribed position of the peripheral surface of a bobbin shaft 27. Then, the bobbin thread 13 guided through the rib 31 is wound while forming a bulge of the wound thread on the peripheral surface of the bobbin shaft 27.
