PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fast-acting and continuous deodorizing property, prevent the deodorizer from becoming the cause for a discoloring when being added to a processed product, and easily obtain a deodorizing product which is excellent in weather-resistance by forming a porous photo-inactive coating layer comprising an insoluble or slightly soluble tetra-valent metal phosphate, on the surface of a photocatalyst particle. SOLUTION: A photocatalyst particle is a particle which displays a catalyst function when irradiated with light, and e.g. a chemically stable and biologically harmless titanium oxide or the like is used. Then, a photo-inactive substance is a porous substance which does not display conductivity and a catalyst property even when irradiated with light, and an insoluble or slightly soluble tetra-valent metal phosphate is used. Also, the tetra-valent metal phosphate is set to be amorphous. In addition, the coating amount of the tetra-valent metal phosphate is made proportional to the P content of a deodorizing agent, and as a preferable P content, the content is set within a range of 0.1-10 wt.%, and at the same time, as a preferable specific surface of the deodorizing agent, the surface is set within a range of 50-100 m2/g. By this constitution, a deodorizing agent having an excellent deodorizing performance can be easily obtained.
