CATALYST FOR CLEANING EXHAUST GAS

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make compatible for both of oxidation inhibition of SO2 and oxidation acceleration of HC in a catalyst contg. a transition metal phosphate compound as a carrier. SOLUTION: This catalyst is composed of a composite carrier consisting essentially of a zirconium phosphate, a titanium phosphate and a noble metal deposited on the composite carrier. As oxidation of SO2 is inhibited with the zirconium phosphate, while the oxidation of HC is accelerated with the titanium phosphate by using both of the phosphates it is possible to compatibly inhibit both of the oxidation of SO2 and acceleration of the oxidation of HC.
