PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance the noise resistance of a fluorescent diagnostic device and make tissue characteristic diagnosis of a living body with high reliability in spite of low S/N of a fluorescent intensity signal. SOLUTION: This device irradiates the section 16 to be diagnosed of the living body 15 with exciting light L2 from exciting light irradiation means 10 and 11 and measures the spectra of the fluorescence L3 emitted from this section 16 to be diagnosed by measuring means 19 and 20 at this time. The cross correlation function y(λ) of the fluorescent spectrum g(λ) and the known fluorescent spectrum f(λ) relating to the normal tissue of the same kind as the kind of the section 16 to be diagnosed is determined by a computer 21. The prescribed characteristic value of the peak value, etc., of this cross correlation function y(λ) and the discrimination threshold K are then compared.
