PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a simple scale scattering preventive method of a hot-rolled coil easy to peel scales such as a checkered plate, and its device. SOLUTION: A hot-rolled coil scale scattering preventive method comprises a process in which a steel sheet 1 re-wound by a pay-off reel is carried in a scale scattering preventive cover 2, a process in which the scales of the steel sheet 1 are peeled by blowing a gas of a specified blowing pressure at a specified blowing angle from a forward part in the advancing direction of the steel sheet and from a rear part in the advancing direction so as to be opposite to each other toward the surface of the steel sheet 1 under carriage in the scale scattering preventive cover 2, a process in which the peeled scales are scattered from the steel sheet 1 by blowing the gas in the width direction of the steel sheet 1 against the surface of the steel sheet 1 under carriage in the scale scattering preventive cover 2, and a process in which the scattered scales are sucked on the downstream side of the gas to be blown to scatter the scales in the scale scattering preventive cover 2.
