PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To control to record in response to a recording density based on actually recorded drive data converted at gradation and resolution by pseudo- halftone treating and resolution converting input image data, judging whether a recording by the multi-paths is conducted or not based on the converted dot data, and recording it. SOLUTION: The method for recording with a memory for converting image data into dot data comprises the steps of inputting the image data to an address of the memory, converting the image data into dot data based on the data read from the memory, counting number of dots of the converted dot data (S103, S104), and controlling to record (S109) the image by a plurality of times of relative recording scanning when the counted value becomes a predetermined value or above (S108).
